Wild Blueberry Loosen Your Belt Buckle

Ingredients

  • 6 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter chilled and cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F or 190 C and grease a 9-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir well and pour into the prepared baking dish.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add the milk and stir just until the mixture comes together.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the batter over the top of the blueberry mixture.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the blueberries are bubbling.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
