Wild Blueberry Apple Butter

Wild Blueberry Apple Butter has many uses such as spread for toast or bread. It can also be used as a condiment and a spread for pastries.


  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 4 large green cooking apples peeled, cored and finely chopped (4-5 Cups)
  • 4 cups sugar
  • ½ tsp ground mace
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground allspice


  • Mix all ingredients together in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil then lower heat and simmer for an hour, stirring occasionally until mixture is thick.
  • Spoon into containers and cover well.


Blueberry apple butter will keep in the refrigerator for up to three weeks. Yield 6 cups.
